Book Signing: Chords of Memory by Gregory Amenoff

Join us on Thursday, October 17th for a book signing at the Milton Resnick and Pat Passlof Foundation for Chords of Memory by Gregory Amenoff. This event will begin at 5 pm, with an interview between Gregory Amenoff and David Humphrey at 6 pm.

Chords of Memory is a 270 page monograph spanning 50 years of painting, drawings and print editions by Gregory Amenoff, with texts by David Humphrey, William Corbett, Trevor Winkfield. Fionn Meade, Tomas Vu, Stephen Westfall, Kenneth Baker, Mei Mei Bersenbrugge, as well as photographs by Arne Svenson and Peter Bellamy.

Gregory Amenoff, born in 1948, St. Charles, Illinois, is a painter who lives in New York City and Ulster County, New York. He is the recipient of numerous awards from organizations including National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, the Tiffany Foundation and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2011. He holds an honorary doctorate from the Massachusetts College of Art. He has had over fifty one-person exhibitions in museums and galleries throughout the United States and Europe. His work is in the permanent collections of more than thirty museums, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the MoMA, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He served as President of the National Academy of Design from 2001-2005. He was a founding board member of the CUE Art Foundation and served as the CUE Art Foundation's Curator Governor from 2002 to 2015. Recently retired from Columbia University where he served for more than three decades and held the Eve and Herman Gelman Chair of Visual Arts, Director of Painting and Drawing and was Chair of the Visual Arts Division from 2007-2013.
