Poetry
Milton Resnick was a painter and a poet. Both he and Pat Passlof were active in a community of poets. Our poetry program began with the Foundation's opening in 2018, inaugurated by a reading by Jerome Rothenberg. Since then, we have regularly hosted poetry readings and events. The poets featured included Eileen Myles, Anselm Berigan, Charles Bernstein, Lee Ann Brown, Elaine Equi, Erica Hunt and John Yau. Our poetry events are free to the public or minimally priced and are seen as important platforms for poets, at the same time foster a lively community for poets and poetry lovers. The Foundation has also integrated poetry into our exhibitions. The exhibition U+ME: Paintings and Poetry by Milton Resnick and Matthew Wong which opened in 2023 presented the paintings and poems of the two artists, creating a meaningful dialogue between the artists' written and visual expressions.
