The Milton Resnick and Pat Passlof Foundation’s mission is to increase the awareness of the life and work of the early Abstract Expressionist painters Milton Resnick and Pat Passlof as well as to support other artists and poets. The Foundation works to provide a service to artists and the community through its programming of presenting exhibitions, poetry readings and music performances.
Located in Resnick’s former home and studio on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, the Foundation’s renovated building now includes three exhibition spaces, a dedicated archive for both artists, and Resnick’s last studio preserved the way he left it.
Since opening in 2018 the Foundation has presented exhibitions of Resnick and Passlof paintings and exhibitions of many other artists and curators active in the contemporary art world. Resnick was a painter and a poet. Our poetry series began with a reading by his friend Jerome Rothenberg and has since featured many of today’s leading poets. The music program began when we opened as the performance space for the extraordinary New York New Music Ensemble.
The Foundation’s programs represent a commitment to promote the importance of the arts in our community. The exhibitions will always be open free of charge, 11am - 6pm, Thursday through Saturday.
